Tammy McHale joined UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences  in 1998 as the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Planning.  She is responsible for the financial planning, budgeting, human resource and operational aspects of the College.

She was named University Manager of the Year in 2006. She has served on many university-wide committees, including the Enterprise Applications Strategic Planning and Implementation Committee, EPA Human Resources Council, EPA Personnel System Steering Committee, Data Warehouse Financial Implementation Steering Committee, Office of Sponsored Research Advisory Committee, Space Use Committee, and others.

She has been engaged in the financial and accounting operations of colleges and universities for more than two decades. Before coming to UNC, she held several financial management positions at Colgate University, culminating with her promotion to Associate Provost for Finance.  Her responsibilities at Colgate included financial planning, facilities planning and financing, compensation analysis, investment management, planned giving and treasury operations. She also served a leadership role in the planning and implementation of an ERP system, including alumni, finance, human resources and student systems.

She started her career at Coopers and Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), auditing colleges and universities in upstate New York.

She is a member of the New York Society of CPA’s (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of CPA’s. While in New York, she also served on the NYSSCPA’s Non-Profit Organizations’ Committee and co-chaired their annual conference planning committee.
