$5 million expands Honors program
More prospective students will be invited to join Carolina’s nationally recognized Honors program, thanks to a $5 million gift to UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Four new faculty superstars
Four major academic stars — in chemistry, computer science, music and philosophy —are joining the College of Arts and Sciences faculty, with support from an initiative by UNC President Erskine Bowles and special funds from the state legislature.
New X-ray technology for national security and medical diagnostics
Some great inventions have been hatched in a bar or sketched on the back of an envelope. Multi-pixel X-ray technology, the first substantial technological advance in X-rays in more than a century, was born over a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and designed on a greasy napkin.
