Jean DeSaix, senior lecturer in the department of biology,
has won a national award for outstanding teaching.
The National Association of Biology Teachers’ Four-Year
College Biology Teaching Award recognizes a college educator who demonstrates
creative and innovative instruction.
DeSaix, who has been teaching in biology in UNC’s College
of Arts and Sciences since 1972,
received the award during the group’s annual meeting in Albuquerque,
N.M. in October. Chancellor James Moeser
recognized her during the November meeting of the University Board of Trustees.
DeSaix, who has a Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill, teaches introductory biology.
