Barack Obama threw his former pastor under the bus Tuesday, but Jeremiah Wright can still catch plenty of other rides -- all the way until November if he wants. Obama poignantly -- some would say desperately -- severed ties with Wright, saying his views changed after the fiery preacher Monday blamed everything from HIV's spread to 9/11 on U.S. government misdeeds. "Whatever the virtues of the Rev. Wright as a leader of a vibrant church, he had become a deliberate dead weight on Obama," said Hodding Carter, a former spokesman for Jimmy Carter and now a professor at UNC-Chapel Hill. "Obama had no option."
