UNC historian Bill Ferris, senior associate director of the Center for the Study of the American South, is one of this country's leading folklorists. He made his mark early on while he was just a teenager. He recorded African American music in his native Mississippi. Those recordings document the early days of the blues. Bill is just out with his latest book/CD/DVD, Give My Poor Heart Ease, that compiles much of his early work.
