Our mission is to create knowledge and discover innovative solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, to educate outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, and to encourage faculty, staff and students to contribute meaningfully to North Carolina, the nation and the world.

College faculty have been recognized for their outstanding research, teaching and engagement in the fine arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics.

The College is home to more than 17,000 undergraduate students, including all of the University’s first-year and second-year students, and more than 75 percent of junior and senior majors. (More than 80% of Carolina students graduate with at least one major from the College.) Some 2,300 graduate students study and teach in the College.
