Last year, we launched “Bookmark This” as a feature that highlights new books by College of Arts & Sciences faculty and alumni, published on the first Friday of each month. In this wrap-up, we collect all of the past Bookmark This interviews from the past year.

For the first time, hard-to-track lithium has been identified and measured in the atmosphere of burned out stars called white dwarfs, according to a study led by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Carolina Tracker project is an online site offering day-to-day information on how North Carolinians’ lives have changed since the onset of the pandemic. Produced by the department of city and regional planning, Carolina Tracker presents easy-to-use, publicly-available data for policymakers and North Carolinians to use. 

UNC-Chapel Hill course gives students a safe zone to learn, practice and experiment with entrepreneurial skills as they develop innovative ventures. Which team’s idea rose to the top this semester?

The Carolina Center of Public Service recognized Class VII of Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholars (FES) in a virtual ceremony on Dec. 11. Shauna Cooper, Sarah Dempsey and Danielle Spurlock from the College were honored.

Patrick Clinch is Carolina’s 21st Marshall Scholar. The Marshall Scholarship covers university fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grants, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, and fares to and from the United States.
