Tracey Cave received the 2023-2024 Award in Management in the College of Arts and Sciences for her outstanding accomplishments in the department of religious studies.
Tracey Cave, department manager of the department of religious studies, received the 2023-2024 Award in Management in the College of Arts and Sciences during a retreat of College managers on Oct. 3.
The award, established in 2005, is given annually to a business or administrative manager in the College in recognition of outstanding accomplishments, including leadership and teamwork; creativity, innovation and resourcefulness; technological expertise; and effective human resource and budget management.
Barbara Ambros, professor and chair of the religious studies department, offered some words of praise about Cave:
“As our department manager, Tracey Cave has been an excellent communicator and always ready to go above and beyond,” Ambros said. “She has managed to do things calmly, efficiently and positively while fostering a welcoming and collegial workplace.
“For example, in fall 2023 during the lockdown, Tracey kept the students safe and comfortable, giving them snacks and keeping them hydrated. Her calm demeanor prevented the students from panicking as they sheltered in place for hours.
“Tracey exceeds what is expected of her in all aspects of her work. Our department feels incredibly fortunate and grateful to have her.”
Cave has been with the religious studies department since July 2015. Previously, she worked as a business services coordinator at the Carolina Asia Center.
