Guidance for instructors for the spring 2022 semester
I am writing to provide you with guidance for your courses for this upcoming spring 2022 semester. Classes start on Jan. 10. As you know, the Chancellor has reaffirmed UNC’s commitment to in-person instruction, while recognizing the need for flexibility as we reconvene as a residential community.

I am firmly committed to you, our students, having the essentials of a residential experience this semester, which will include your having the vast majority of your classes conducted in-person. We know that the on-campus experience is critical, not just for learning but for mental health and well-being.

Reopening Research in the College of Arts & Sciences
On Monday, June 1, 2020, we will reopen our research spaces in the College of Arts & Sciences and they will operate under a new three-layer COVID-19 policy.

PPE pickup instructions for research spaces in other departments
These instructions are for acquiring masks and cleaning/disinfecting supplies for research labs and spaces, not for instructional or other departmental use. The immediate goal is to supply the requirements of research spaces as they reopen. Supplies for other phases of reopening will be handled in future announcements.
