Mitch Prinstein, Seters Distinguished Professor and co-director of the Winston National Center on Technology Use, Brain and Psychological Development, writes about how fighting big tech can feel overwhelming, but that small steps can make a difference.

Prinstein recently presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

He advises parents to go on this journey with their kids.

“Let’s be part of the solution together,” he says. “Have a tech-free dinner with family while leaving devices in the other room. Maybe a tech-free hike or device-less stop for frozen yogurt. … Talk about how hard this is for you, too.”

Prinstein is also the chief of psychology for the American Psychological Association.
