Joel Fodrie of UNC’s Institute of Marine Sciences, joins 97.9 The Hill’s Brighton McConnell on Monday, July 8. With “Shark Week” starting on TV, Fodrie shares what kind of shark research is conducted at the university center in Morehead City, N.C.
He details what species of sharks are most common along North Carolina’s coast and why sharks are a tough species to keep track of. Plus, Fodrie shares how climate change’s effects could be impacting the more local shark populations — including why it is not straightforward to determine — and several misconceptions people have about the animals.
Fodrie was also interviewed by WUNC’s “Due South.”
