Jodi Magness, a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is an archaeologist specializing in ancient Palestine.

“I have participated in over 20 excavations in Israel and in Greece,” she writes, “including co-directing the 1995 excavations in the Roman siege works at Masada.”

Her new book, Jerusalem Through the Ages is a survey of what became, uniquely, a holy city to three of the world’s major religions.
