Admiral Dennis Blair, former Director of National Intelligence, joins Peace, War and Defense curriculum faculty at Carolina.

Twenty three students and recent graduates have been selected to receive the Fulbright U.S. Student Program award for the 2019-2020 academic year, the highest number of recipients from UNC-Chapel Hill in one year.

Juan Carlos González Espitia is an associate professor of Spanish in the Department of Romance Studies within the UNC College of Arts & Sciences. In his historical study of syphilis in the Spanish-speaking world, he explores the ways the disease affects private and public life, literature, the arts, medical discourse, politics, and public policy.

Michael Tsin, associate professor in the Department of History and Curriculum in Global Studies and academic director of the Phillips Ambassadors program, was recently selected as the Earl N. Phillips Jr. Distinguished Professor in International Studies.

For most of his life, the only place Mohammed Eid knew of was the small Palestinian refugee camp where he grew up. As a boy, he had never seen a swimming pool, a baseball field or a movie theater. Now a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Eid is working to find solutions to the refugee crisis he experienced firsthand.

Leah Everist, a fourth-year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been named a 2018 Luce Scholar by the Henry Luce Foundation. Carolina boasts more Luce Scholars than any other college or university in the United States.
