From textile mills to the state’s mental hospital, a team of UNC faculty, students and staff are engaging with North Carolina communities to tell their own complicated stories.

Colin Palmer became the first African-American chair of a major department at UNC-Chapel Hill when he was appointed to lead the history department in 1986, a post he held until 1991. He’ll be honored at several events the week of Feb. 19.
