Michelle Freeman uncovers how clergy and laity revered saints in the fourth to sixth centuries to improve cultural understanding today.

Lily Herbert ’16 is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geography housed in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s College of Arts and Sciences. Her summer fellowship allowed her to work on her dissertation, centering on hate crime legislation and its geographical ties.

Martin Groff is the 2021 Dr. Nancy C. Joyner Summer Research Fellowship recipient, which allows him to conduct research on 19th-century American authors and their conceptualization of democracy.
