Dear colleagues,

As Senior Associate Dean Abigail Panter prepares to wrap up her last semester in her position, I am writing to share that the search committee for the senior associate dean for undergraduate education in the College of Arts and Sciences has invited three finalists to campus to give presentations.

The dates and location of the presentations are:

  • Candidate 1: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18; Pleasants Family Room, Wilson Library
  • Candidate 2: 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25; Kresge Foundation Common Room (GM039), Graham Memorial
  • Candidate 3: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8; Kresge Foundation Common Room (GM039), Graham Memorial

Each presentation is scheduled for 40 minutes, including 20 minutes for Q&A. Approximately 48 hours before each presentation, this web page will be updated with the candidate’s CV and talk title. (You will need to sign in with your ONYEN to access the page.)

Candidates were asked to respond to the following prompt:

Prepare a public talk in which you articulate your vision for, and the challenges facing, the future of undergraduate education. You may discuss how your experience has led you to this position at UNC-Chapel Hill and how you would lead the Office of Undergraduate Education.

The appointment will be effective July 1, 2024. I’d like to thank Jaye Cable, senior associate dean for natural sciences and mathematics, and other members of the search committee for their work to identify strong candidates.

Sincerely,

Jim
