UNC Chapel Hill has many educational opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to engage in expanding their diversity, equity, and inclusion knowledge to contribute positively to our College climate.

ADA Education

The ADA National network offers live training for employees, supervisors, and HR professionals and more that increases awareness of policies and best practices for supporting disabled or differently-abled individuals and familiarizes participants with their responsibilities and available resources.

DEIR Certificate Program

The OVCR and the Odum Institute offer a newly created certificate program to foster a new standard of inclusion, sensitivity, and intentionality in the UNC research community.To earn the DEIR Certificate, program participants must successfully complete a set of required core courses, plus three elective courses from a selection of DEIR-approved courses.

Employment Equity

The Office of State Human Resources offers a Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Fundamentals training. The training is required by law for managerial and supervisory employees. Green Zone

Green Zone is a training opportunity for faculty, staff, and students who wish to learn more about the military connected student experience and how to support military affiliated students.

Duration: 3 hours

HAVEN

HAVEN training provides students, faculty, and staff with tools to support someone who has experienced sexual or interpersonal violence or stalking. The three-hour live training emphasizes the importance of listening, responding compassionately, and connecting those affected by violence to resources on campus and in the community.

Duration: 3 hours

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a training designed to help participants develop basic skills to help someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis, respond to substance use disorders, and identify professional resources that can provide additional care.

Duration: 8 hours (full day or half-day sessions)

Safe Zone

Carolina’s LGBTQ Center offers two Safe Zone workshops, Standard Safe Zone and Safe Zone Transgender & Nonbinary. Workshops are designed to educate participants on creating a safer, more inclusive environment for LBGTQ+ people.

Duration: Standard-4 hours
Trans & Nonbinary- 2 hours

UDOI Education

The University Office for Diversity and Inclusion offer a variety of DEI related trainings to the UNC community. Training opportunities include Psychological Safety & Inclusion, Foundations of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Bias & Microaggressions, Fostering an Inclusive Classroom, and Engaging Conflict Properly.

UndocuCarolina

UndocuCarolina is a workshop that familiarizes participants with federal, state and University laws and policies that affect undocumented students and their families and teaches attendees how to best support undocumented students.

Duration: 3 hours
