“The Fund for Excellence in Classics helped me to focus on my prospectus research and, therefore, to complete my doctoral candidacy requirements in the fall of 2017. This allowed me to be ready and eligible for all of the grant applications I wrote in spring 2018 in addition to my coursework. I appreciated the opportunity to be a departmental student teaching fellow because it allowed me to gain experience with some of the same kinds of tasks that will be expected of me in the future as a junior faculty member. I would not have been able to complete as much work on my dissertation as I did nor would I have been able to accept this departmental position without the funding provided by private donors like you. Thank you!”
