Preserving endangered Islamic manuscripts
Scholars from the department of African, African American and diaspora studies and a University Libraries digitization specialist traveled to Senegal and Mali to preserve and digitize 6,000 pages of handwritten Islamic manuscripts.

Fourteen Tar Heels awarded Fulbrights for global research, teaching
Fourteen students and recent graduates from UNC-Chapel Hill have been selected to receive the Fulbright U.S. Student Program award. This year’s recipients represent graduating seniors to doctoral candidates in multidisciplinary fields, including English, history, public policy and public health.
