The repertory company’s season lineup explores challenging topics through adaptations and comedy.

Students in Maymester’s “Writing for the 30-Minute Comedy” course collaborated with Tar Heels from “Acting for the Camera” and “Directing for the Camera” to write and produce scenes for a sitcom in just three weeks.

In Associate Professor Michelle Robinson’s American studies Maymester course, “Comedy and Ethics,” students explored how stand-up comedy enriches American culture and sparks ethical discussions, all while making people laugh.

Doctoral student Joey Richards is a stand-up comedian who researches performance studies, teaches in the department of communication in the College of Arts & Sciences, and serves on the Graduate and Professional Student Federation.

“All Too Human: The Art of Comedy” features nine productions that explore the gamut of human emotions and experiences showcased in comedies both classic and new.
