The department of music in the College of Arts and Sciences through the UNC Summer School hosted the Carolina Hip Hop Institute from May 20-31, 2024.

Two spring performances, both involving work by music professor Mark Katz, highlight the transformative power of hip-hop.

Joey Lancellotti, a Carolina senior and a pitcher on the Tar Heels baseball team, turned a class project into a song that conveys the stories of pediatric cancer survivors from UNC Children’s Hospital.
