In Associate Professor Michelle Robinson’s American studies Maymester course, “Comedy and Ethics,” students explored how stand-up comedy enriches American culture and sparks ethical discussions, all while making people laugh.
Doctoral student Joey Richards is a stand-up comedian who researches performance studies, teaches in the department of communication in the College of Arts & Sciences, and serves on the Graduate and Professional Student Federation.
“Ethics of Stand-up Comedy” is a Maymester course that examines comedy’s role in society as a form of cultural expression full of underlying ethical discussions.
