Jeffery Dangl, the John N. Couch Distinguished Professor of Biology and an HHMI investigator, has been elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society, the U.K.’s national academy of sciences and the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence.
The newest members of the prestigious academy come from the departments of sociology and biology.
Beverly Loftin, business manager in the department of physics and astronomy and applied physical sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences, was named the 2022 University Manager of the Year.
Logan Brackett received the 2021-2022 Award in Management in the College of Arts & Sciences for his outstanding accomplishments
The General Alumni Association Board of Directors in May presented its 2022 Distinguished Service Medals to two alumni. The recipients were Patricia Ann Timmons-Goodson ’76 (’79 JD), of Fayetteville, and Terry Ellen Rhodes ’78, of Chapel Hill.
Eve Golecruz used her communications class to create a short film exploring her identity and the environment. The film was accepted into the Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF).
