Carolina senior Lucas Risinger is among the three Tar Heels studying at Kyrgyzstan’s American University of Central Asia this year as part of the UNC Russian Flagship Program.

Emily Madrzykowski had dreams of becoming a tour guide even before becoming a Tar Heel. Now an admissions ambassador, she guides prospective students through campus, sharing the Carolina story along the way.

Senior Ashley Dos Santos knew that Carolina’s makerspaces were where she belonged even before she was officially a Tar Heel. Now an active member in the Be A Maker Network, she’s working to bring the world of making to more students.

There are currently more than 4,000 identified exoplanets, and senior Madyson Barber is searching for more.

Rising junior Sarah Paschal has spent the past two years training and performing with Carolina Jump Rope. The group competes against other universities and jump rope clubs from around the country and dazzles crowds with spins and flips.

Carolina sophomore Rida Bayraktar founded Pink STREAM to educate, motivate, empower and inspire kindergarten through eighth-grade girls in science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts and math.

By day, junior Jonah Lewis studies history and information science at Carolina. But at night, you’ll find him performing comedy at open mic nights around Chapel Hill.
